The Exhibition
"Per Dino Campana, da Marradi a Ravenna," curated by Aldo Savini, with catalog texts by Aldo Savini and Barbara Betti, is the second exhibition in a project dedicated to the relationship between poetry and the visual image. The project, inaugurated last year at the Enrico Consolini Campanian Studies Center in Marradi with the exhibition "Ad ogni poesia fare il quadro," featured artists mostly from the Romagna region. Dino Campana's decidedly visionary poetic and literary writing inspires the artist's visual representation of the text, interpreting it according to his imagination and poetic and aesthetic sensibility. The 15 participating artists — Paola Babini, Martina Baldetti, Onorio Bravi, Laura Forghieri, Alice Iaquinta, Laura Medici, Alessandro Mercatali, Stefano Mercatali, Roberto Pagnani, Maurizio Pilò, Maurizio Rogai, Andrea Tampieri, Serena Venturelli, Federico Zanzi, Marisa Zattini — have freely chosen a passage from a poem or literary text to relive and translate into an image, adhering to a personal expressive language ranging from painting to photography and installation.
Closing ceremony with Giovanni Tonelli
A scholar of the poetry of Dino Campana and Dante for nearly 30 years, Giovanni Tonelli presented the first show on Dino Campana at the Orazio Vecchi Music Institute in Modena in 2000. Many others followed, sometimes in collaboration with the "Compagnia degli Accesi," a cultural association dedicated to "Poetry Theater" with a focus on classical Italian authors.
At the request of the Municipality of Brisighella (RA), in the evocative outdoor setting of the Antico Former Convento dell'Osservanza, in 2022 he organized the festival dedicated to Dino Campana, part of the "Sogno d'Estate" cultural season.
In June 2024, he presented the show "Acqua di mare amaro" (Bitter Sea Water), under the patronage of the Enrico Consolini Campanian Studies Center of Marradi. The show was performed again that same year in Venice by Morgan O'Hara's Cavana dei Miracoli. "Bitter Sea Water" was conceived at the request of Rodolfo Ridolfi. This is a broad selection of verses by the Marradi-born poet that reference the sea, a constant theme in Campanian poetry. At its heart is Genoa, a port of departures and returns, a place of escapes into the unknown and of returns, a place of dreams, suffocating, claustrophobic alleys, and sudden openings between sea and sky. A disturbing sea, full of fascination and terror. No half measures, no half emotions.
