COLLECTIVE EXHIBITION OF MEXICAN ARTISTS IN HOMAGE TO DANTE ALIGHIERI ON THE 700TH ANNIVERSARY OF HIS DEATH
From 3 to 9 December 2021
Mexican art has its roots in a direct vision rich in "sanguine" and instinctive expressions of popular figuration. Curated by Fernando Aroche Bello, in this exhibition - which brings together the diversity of graphic-plastic expressions taking place in Mexico - 5 works will be exhibited for each of the 140 Mexican artists, for a total of 700 works, equal to the number of years commemorated. The selected artists participate in the categories: painting, graphics, drawing, watercolor, photography, design and illustration. All the works are created in small format (20x20cm) so to look like a Mosaic, with the intention of honoring the historic mosaic tradition of Ravenna. The installation in Ravenna follows the inauguration of the exhibition held on 21 October 2021 in Mexico City at the University of the Cloister of Sor Juana.
In 2019, on the occasion of the celebrations organized for the 500th anniversary of the death of Leonardo Da Vinci, a cultural bridge was created between Mexico and the city of Florence (Italy), where an exhibition was set up at the Mentana Gallery. n 2021 the organizing committee intends to celebrate Dante Alighieri on the 700th anniversary of his death by creating a cultural bridge between Mexico and the city of Ravenna (Italy), where the bones of the Supreme Poet rest.
