Fabrizio Bonvicini & Marina Giannobi
18 piccole storie
from 14 to 28 June 2025
The Exhibition
The collaboration between Fabrizio Bonvicini, master sculptor of wearable architecture and Marina Giannobi, photographer of nocturnal perceptions, leads to the creation of a series of wooden rings with photographic inserts. These small sculptures give a look at the world with architectural geometries, colors that underline the volumes and mysterious and evocative black and white images. Shapes like Icelandic rocks, colors like Hindu temples, indefinite images like the night, transport us to the most remote places.
18 rings are presented and each of them tells a story, and each story is conceived by 18 authors of very different extractions. Thus a choral work of references is born, from the object to the text, from the creation to the invention. The rings are made from a single block of oak, worked by subtraction with Japanese saws and cutters, the pure pigment color is applied with various layers, the finish is rendered with a cotton pad. The photographs are printed on wood and mounted/set on these geometric shapes.
At the inauguration, a photographic book will be presented with a critical text by Roberto Pagnani and with the 18 short stories told. The authors of the stories are: Vanni Cuoghi, artist; Alessandra Migliano, gallery owner; Alberto Casiraghy, publisher and artist; Michele Igino Sordo, poet and actor; Simona Cantoni, author; Aldo Guzzo, physicist; Ginevra Bonvicini, young student; Don Claudio Rubagotti, priest; Simone Riva, writer; Massimo Arrigoni, actor and writer; Emanuele Beluffi, critic; Roberta Lietti, gallery owner; Beppe Calgaro, artist; Enrico Bertelli, artist; Alessandro Mescoli, critic; Francesco De Molfetta, artist; Matteo Ramon Arevalos, composer; Fulvia Mendini, artist; Felice Terrabuio, artist and curator.
The Artists
Fabrizio Bonvicini
If tree trunks could talk, they would say how much dedication and love Fabrizio Bonvicini (aka Bonvi) puts into creating these small wearable sculptures. After training at the “A. Venturi” art institute in Modena, in the ceramics section, he has never stopped thinking and dreaming like a child, drawing sets for the theater, designing accessories for fashion, until he imagined and gave life to these “sculptural jewels”.
The genesis is a piece of rough and shapeless wood. Bonvicini uses different techniques and tools depending on the processing phases and the type of objective: the chainsaw to reduce the size, the chisel, the cutters for the smallest parts, the Japanese saws to obtain geometric parts and tons of sandpaper … All the wood used by Bonvicini comes from recovery.
Influenced by everything that surrounds him, from architecture to abstract forms, he draws his greatest inspiration by observing nature and its action on matter; his jewels are thus full of strength and natural energy.
His small works have been presented and exhibited at national and international Museums, Fairs and Contemporary Art Galleries.
Marina Giannobi
At 15 she took possession of her father's Nikon and began to take pictures, because she recognized that memory is labile. She fixes details, moments, situations, and like an investigator, she recomposes the traces.
These elements allow her to complete an image and reconstruct a reality present in every human being, who from observation arrives at a perception of own feeling.
Since 2000 she has exhibited in Contemporary Art galleries and Museums.
She participated in the 54th Venice Biennale, Italian Pavilion, and in the Cairo Prize.
She created an artist's room at the Malaca Instituto in Malaga.
She is a guest of artist residences in Italy and abroad.
