Arturo Luciano Galassi (1920-2001)
The Architecture of Arturo Luciano Galassi in Ravenna, between tradition and modernity.
from 27 September to 5 October 2025
The Exhibition
Conceived by the CARP Social Promotion Association, Ghigi-Pagnani Collection Archive, and curated by architect Federico De Angelis, the exhibition aims to enlighten the professional career of one of Ravenna's most active twentieth-century designers, the most prominent local exponent of that group of postwar architects who pioneered modernity, drawing on Mediterranean tradition, the ability to engage with nature, and an attention to inventive detail.
Interior Designer, Expert, and then Architect. In all cases, the correct definition is Planner: a professional capable of working on various scales, from land development to fireplaces.
The exhibition is the result of the reorganization and inventory of Arturo Luciano Galassi's Project Archive.
Arturo Luciano Galassi
Arturo Luciano Galassi's design experience spans more than 40 years, encompassing a wide range of projects: from private villas to commercial businesses, from interior design to product design, and even restoration, all for select clients.
His first works, designed in the mid-1950s, emerged in a changing Ravenna, opening up to a new world. They are characterized by an apparent simplicity, concealing refined planimetric and formal research, and technical experimentation with details of international scope.
The use of traditional materials, such as rustic lime plaster, terracotta, and stone, blends with technical virtuosity, such as sliding shutters, doors, and the first pivot windows, often in precious materials such as Douglas fir or Burma teak.
